A metering station easement secures land for a facility that measures the volume and quality of oil or gas as it changes hands or moves between systems. It is a common midstream surface right. The site houses meters and sampling equipment that measure volume and quality at custody-transfer or interconnect points, so accuracy is contractually important. The easement secures the small parcel plus access for calibration and maintenance.
