Release of Easement

A release of easement is a recorded document by which the holder gives up its rights in an easement, clearing it from the land record. It is used when infrastructure is abandoned, relocated, or no longer needed. By recording a release, the holder formally extinguishes its rights and clears the encumbrance from the burdened parcel’s title, tidying the land record and freeing the owner from the old restriction.
