Temporary Construction Easement (TCE)

A temporary construction easement grants extra workspace alongside a permanent right-of-way for the duration of construction, then expires. Pipelines and transmission lines use TCEs for equipment, staging, and spoil storage during the build. A TCE provides extra working width for the construction window only, with payment usually based on the area and the months of use. Landowners are compensated separately for the temporary disturbance on top of the permanent easement.
Each tract often carries both a permanent easement and a TCE with different terms and payments. Gridlync tracks both, and flags when temporary rights expire.
Example
Alongside its permanent 50-foot easement, Highland Pipeline takes a 25-foot temporary construction easement across the Webb farm for nine months of building, paying the Webbs $8,000 for the extra workspace before that strip reverts to them.
