Transportation Agreement
Gridlync land and infrastructure glossary.
A transportation agreement is a midstream contract for moving oil, gas, or products through a pipeline at agreed rates and terms, often as firm or interruptible service. The pipeline behind it depends on a continuous chain of land rights. It contracts pipeline capacity for a shipper, either firm and guaranteed or interruptible, at tariff or negotiated rates over a set term, and the service only holds up if the right-of-way along the route stays valid for the life of the contract.
The right-of-way under a transported volume must hold up over decades. Gridlync keeps the easements and obligations along the line current and audit-ready.
Example
Shipper Northgate Energy signs a 10-year firm transportation agreement for 50,000 Mcf per day on Continental Transmission’s line. The deal works only because Continental’s easements across hundreds of tracts, including the Salazar ranch, stay valid the whole term.
